MEDITERRANEA KICKS OFF TONIGHT

Final preparations are underway for the curtain to fall today on the much awaited opera event at the Astra Theatre in Victoria – Verdi’s “Macbeth”, which will inaugurate the 6th edition of Festival Mediterranea.

The four-act opera “Macbeth” featuring international singers Francesca Patane’, Marco Chingari, Franco De Grandis, and Maltese world famous tenor Joseph Calleja who will be interpreting once again the role of Macduff (the same role, same opera, in the same theatre which marked his debut 10 years ago) is being presented both tonight and on Saturday at 19.30hrs.

Featuring also is the Teatru Astra Opera Chorus (chorus mistress: Dr Maria Frendo). The National Orchestra will be under the expert direction of Prof Joseph Vella, while the producer is the very well-known Mario Corradi.
